Four Outdoor Wall Lanterns Hung in East Vancouver, WA

We spent about an hour at this east Vancouver home hanging four black wall lanterns. Two went on the stone next to the garage doors, one went by the front entry, and one went by the side door.

Two of the lights went on stone veneer. Stone isn’t flat, so a fixture base can rock or leave gaps behind it if you just screw it to the box. We set each of those lanterns so it sits tight and level.

The entry and side door lights went on lap siding, which is the easier mount.

One fixture, four spots

All four lanterns are the same fixture, so the garage, the entry and the side door match. We turned each one on and checked it before we packed up.

Lights for outside

Outdoor fixtures need a wet location rating when they’re out in the weather, and a damp rating at minimum under a covered porch. If you’re picking out fixtures yourself, check the box for that rating before you buy.
