Garage Tesla Wall Connector Install in Vancouver, WA (Orchards, 2022 Home)

Tesla Wall Connector install in the garage of a 2022 Orchards home in Vancouver, WA: a dedicated circuit landed in the existing Eaton panel and run in EMT conduit to the charger, mounted right beside the panel for the shortest, cleanest path.

Scope of Work

  • Installed a Tesla Wall Connector in the garage of a 2022 home
  • Landed a dedicated 240V circuit in the existing Eaton panel
  • Ran the feed in EMT conduit for a clean, protected path
  • Mounted the charger beside the panel to keep the run short

Newman Electric installed a Tesla Wall Connector in the garage of a 2022 home in the Orchards area of Vancouver, WA. The ask was simple, the charger to the right of the panel, and on a newer house like this one the job goes the way every EV install should: no drama, just a clean dedicated circuit and a tidy run.

Why a newer home makes EV charging easy

Homes built in the last few years usually have two things working in your favor, and this one had both:

  • A modern panel with room. The existing Eaton panel had open spaces, so we could land a dedicated 240V circuit without a sub-panel or a service upgrade.
  • Short distance to the garage wall. Mounting the Tesla Wall Connector right beside the panel kept the conductor run short, which means less voltage drop and a cleaner-looking install.

That is the best-case version of a home EV charging circuit: the capacity is already there, so the work is landing a breaker, running the feed, and mounting the unit. Our guide to picking the right home charger walks through how to tell whether your own panel is in this happy position.

Why we ran it in EMT conduit

Inside a garage, the feed to the charger can be run a few different ways. We ran this one in EMT conduit:

  1. It protects the conductors on an exposed garage wall where things get bumped, leaned on, and stored against
  2. It looks deliberate, a straight metal run from panel to charger instead of cable stapled across the drywall
  3. It is easy to modify later if the homeowner ever adds a circuit or moves the unit

A Tesla Wall Connector is a nice piece of equipment. Feeding it with a clean conduit run is what makes the whole wall look finished instead of like an afterthought.

What the charger actually delivers

A hardwired Wall Connector on a proper 240V circuit charges far faster than the cord that came with the car:

  • A standard 120V garage outlet adds only a few miles of range per hour
  • A dedicated Level 2 circuit can add tens of miles per hour, enough to fully refill most EVs overnight

If you are weighing the cost of doing it right, our breakdown of what an EV charger costs to install covers what drives the price, panel capacity and run length being the two big ones.
